Why Knights of Columbus?

At a time when Catholic immigrants to the country were regarded with suspicion, the Order’s founders chose a Catholic namesake who symbolized courage, unity, and the hope of building a new, inclusive society.  Celebrate the U. S. federal holiday by learning more about Christopher Columbus’ complex, world-changing legacy.  Courage and Conviction, a 30-minute documentary narrated by Chazz Palminteri, aired on October 9 on EWTN at 5:30 PM and 11:30 PM ET.  The film, and many more resources, can be found at kofc.org/columbus.

Leroy Jackson: Pioneer in Football and Pillar of Faith

Leroy R. Jackson Jr. made history as the first Black player for the Washington Redskins and now serves as a security guard at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in D.C. Starting his day with the Rosary, Jackson reflects on his journey from high school football to the NFL. Drafted by the Cleveland Browns in 1962 and later traded to Washington, he broke racial barriers in the league. His legacy lives on through his faith, pioneering role, and dedicated service with the Knights of Columbus.
